Dietitian Kylie’s TOP Restaurant Meals to AVOID if You’re Watching Your Weight!

As we are approaching the weekend, and AHEM, St. Patties day, I thought it appropriate to address these  DIET WRECKERS! Many of us go out to eat on the weekend, or for a holiday, birthday, the list can go on and on. We are in a society that celebrates EVERY occasion, success and milestone, with FOOD. It can be very easy to go completely off track when ordering food at a restaurant when you are trying to stick with a meal plan and get in shape.

So here are just some of THE WORST things to order, if you are serious about getting results in your fitness and nutrition routine! Now, don’t get me wrong, we all have a cheat day, a valid reason to celebrate. On those occasions, I say , TREAT YOURSELF! But, if you are really trying to DIAL IN with your nutrition, these are the dishes I would STEER AWAY FROM! Each of these have AT LEAST 1,000 CALORIES.

 

  1. THE BUFFALO CHICKEN SALAD, coming in at approximately 1, 040 calories and 72 grams of fat.

AKA , AN ENTIRE PINT OF CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE DOUGH ICE CREAM.

YIKES.

2. French Toast and Bacon ( hey, don’t kill the messenger!)

Approx 1,130 calories and 20 grams of fat

3. Chicken Fajitas

Approx 1,300 calories and 47 grams of fat

BUT  they can also be a healthy option! Watch what you’re adding on to them ! Hold off on the HEAPING AMOUNTS of sour cream, cheese, fried rice and refried beans.  Load up on grilled veggies and fresh pico! Just as delicious.

4. Pasta Carbonara

I know , it’s OH SO GOOD, but just, DON’T.

Approx 1,570 calories and 113 grams of fat.

Let that sink in for a moment. This is more fat, than you would get if you ate HALF A DOZEN OF GLAZED DONUTS.

5. Deep Dish Pizza

approx 2,300 Calories, 164 grams of fat

I am talking even the “individual” sized deep dish pizzas. Skip the fatty meat, and choose thin crust.

6. Sliders ( about 4 of them)

Approx 1,560 calories and 83 grams of fat

Take half home! Or just leave there, You don’t really need those leftovers at home for a late night binge.

7. French Fries

A large size of these buggers are approx 1,314 calories and 57 grams of fat! This can be more calories than an ENTIRE LOAF OF WHITE BREAD. If you really want the fries, GO FOR A SMALL!
